Arkadiusz "Arek" Gepchard

Arkadiusz “Arek” Gepchard is a Polish photographer and visual artist based in France. His work focuses on staged self-portraiture, humorous surrealism and conceptual photography. Using theatrical makeup and handmade props — often created from ordinary or discarded objects — he builds images that may first provoke a smile, but often lead toward questions about human nature, identity, time, fear and freedom. Photography is his way of transforming personal thoughts, desires and anxieties into visual stories.
